Much of my visual work has been based on movement, whether that be the movement of sound, or other moving subjects.

Macro Cymatics Project

This was a project based around capturing the the movements of two different objects on a speaker in Macro form. Much of the filming was done on my DSLR camera and the aim was to show the how sounds vibrations can be passed into objects (and also to create something visually interesting to watch). I edited the footage together within Adobe Premiere.

Oscilloscope Patterns

This was part of a project in which I explored using Oscilloscopes to create Lissajous patterns. Oscilloscopes basically take an audio signal and show a visual representation of a waveform. By switching it to XY mode you can create some very interesting patterns as this represents the amplitude of both the left and right channels of a stereo recording. This video was created using a recording of various different signals composed into a (roughly) three and a half minute piece and gated to different elements of the music that is synchronised to the visuals. This was then fed through the oscilloscope and filmed. The aim of this was to show how sound can be visualised.

This work was inspired by Jerombeam Fenderson's work and a music video by IDM artist, Clark, called Superscope. The below video is a demonstration video of some of the patterns I created synced up to one of my earlier pieces of music.
